Daily Cal: Cornerback Mixon Out For Year After Tearing ACL

Bear Bites

• While the highlight of the No. 9 Cal football team's Thursday scrimmage was the two kick returns for touchdowns by Lavelle Hawkins and DeSean Jackson, there was little excitement afterwards about the Bears' return game.   The mood was dampened when cornerback Tim Mixon's right foot got caught in the turf as he tried to make a cut by the sidelines during a return, sending the versatile senior to the ground. An MRI taken after the scrimmage revealed that Mixon tore the ACL in his right knee, which will likely end his season.  Mixon's 12.7 career punt return average is second all-time at Cal, and his 22 pass break-ups rank sixth all-time in school history.
