As the Tennessee football team opens its first game week of the 2006 season today, head coach Phillip Fulmer's emphasis coming out of fall camp has settled on the lack of depth. This is not the kind of broad-based concern you want to acknowledge when your first opponent is a California team ranked No. 9 in preseason. Fulmer likes the enthusiasm and work ethic of his players (a familiar refrain in every preseason), but he knows youthful energy cannot make up for the lack of experience in certain positions, especially among second-team players. What he leaves unsaid is that there are some questions about his starters as well.
