BERKELEY - Going into a season in which Cal is expected to challenge for a Bowl Championship Series berth, coach Jeff Tedford had to find one important piece of the puzzle -- the one shaped like a foot. So it's not surprising that everyone around Memorial Stadium sits up and takes notice when punter Andrew Larson, a transfer from Saddleback Community College, does his thing during summer camp. After a few shaky days to start his Cal experience, Larson has settled into a rhythm that indicates he might be an exceptional punter at the major college level. "When I evaluated him, I thought that No. 1, he was very athletic," said Cal special teams coach Pete Alamar. "And No. 2, he had very good hang time. A lot of punters just want to drive the ball for distance. He is a guy who gets it."
