Vols defense stands out in first major scrimmage

The new Tennessee offense is still a work in progress.

Erik Ainge was intercepted twice and threw no touchdowns in the Vols first major scrimmage. The Vols defense set the pace, and kept the first team offense out of the end zone. Back-up quarterbacks Jonathon Crompton and Bo Hardegree combined for four touchdowns. Erik Ainge was intercepted twice and threw no touchdowns. Kicker James Wilhoit and holder Casey Woods had the play of the day. The combo scored the first touchdown of the scrimmage with a touchdown pass on a fake field goal. The Vols have two more major scrimmages this fall. They begin the season on September 2nd against California.
