WBIR: Fulmer likes Thursday workout

Tennessee staged a rebound of sorts during Thursday's football workout at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, bouncing back from a sub-par outing the day before. Head coach Phillip Fulmer practiced the team for better than two hours and thought his squad took the challenge. "From yesterday to today was like night and day, and that just tells you what attitude can do," Fulmer said. "That tells you just how a mindset can make you better. "We can work to be more consistent as a football team and work like heck to solidify a few starting positions and find some depth. Today was very encouraging. That's our challenge for the weekend, though, to continue to make the progress we need to make on both sides and have this kind of physical and mental toughness that we had today, which was much improved. Tennessee continues working on its own tendencies, using this first week of preseason camp to make the Vols a better practice and fundamental team. "They understand our tempo better, particularly on the offensive side," Fulmer said. "I think they certainly have been challenged from the standpoint of if you're capable of making a play, put yourself in position and make it. There is no stamp of approval on anything right now but we are making progress."
