Sports Network: No. 10 Cal runs past Washington State

Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Marshawn Lynch rushed for 152 yards with a pair of touchdowns to guide 10th-ranked California past Washington State, 21-3, at Martin Stadium. Nate Longshore went 17-of-31 for 176 yards with a pair of interceptions but had a rushing touchdown for the Golden Bears (6-1, 4-0 PAC 10), who dropped Oregon 45-24 last week and have now won six straight.  The normally high-powered Cal offense outgained the Cougars by only three yards, but the defense and special teams rose to the occasion to keep the Bears perfect in the conference.  Robert Jordan had six catches for 56 yards in the win, while DeSean Jackson added four grabs for 60 yards.  Darrell Hutsona netted 88 yards on the ground on just three carries for Washington State (4-3, 2-2), which has dropped two of its last three.

Alex Brink ended 19-of-35 for 227 yards with an interception, and Gary Rogers also threw a pick and finished 2-of-6 for 35 yards.  Nu'u Tafisi came through with a blocked punt early in the contest to set the Golden Bears up at the opposition's five yard-line. Lynch cashed in moments later to make it a 7-0 game.  Longshore's one-yard run with 3:22 to play upped the advantage to 14 points. The 11-play, 71-yard drive consumed 2:56 of game clock and put Cal firmly in control.  Loren Langley put the Cougars on the board with a 25-yard field goal in the opening moments of the second quarter, but the offense could muster no more.  Lynch countered with an eight-yard TD scamper with 3:27 remaining in the half to complete a 12-play, 88-yard march and make it 21-7.  The defenses took full control in the second half, as neither team scored in the final two quarters.
