Long Beach Press Telegram: Possibilities aplenty in BCS case

Here is the link.

And the raucous cry goes out across Trojan-land: We're No. 2! We're No. 2!  OK, maybe not. National titles two years running and a near-miss in January doesn't make one embrace being second, especially since many in the university fan base have re-embraced its University of Spoiled Children tradition status.  It isn't exactly a tenuous hold USC has on the No. 2 rank in the first always-confounding Bowl Championship Ranking of the season released Sunday.

Then there's Cal, which stumbled against Tennessee but has been unstoppable since. Coach Jeff Tedford, the former Cerritos College quarterback, has a very winnable schedule around the November USC game, and it would be hard to tell a Pac-10 team that went 9-0 in league play that it isn't good enough for the BCS title game.
