Longshore throws Gophers for a loss

You could see the anger starting to bubble inside Cal's Nate Longshore on Tuesday as he tried calmly to answer about a dozen variations of the same question.   The questions, all of which criticized the Bears' offensive performance against Tennessee in the season opener, didn't bother the quarterback. He was upset because no one appeared to believe his answers.

"On some plays, we were a half-second or one cut away from making a big play," he said as some media members smirked. "It's right there."  There won't be as many doubters now.

Longshore didn't miss many of those plays Saturday against Minnesota as he led the Bears to a 42-17 victory in front of 55,035 fans in the home opener at Memorial Stadium. The sophomore, who completed 11 of 20 passes for 85 yards and an interception a week ago, bounced back with a career performance. He connected on 22 of 31 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns.
