Daily Cal: Rankings and Hype Mean Nothing Yet

There is hardly a better place to be on a Saturday afternoon than Memorial Stadium in normal circumstances. But with seven games between ranked teams on the slate on Separation Saturday, Cal and Portland State lost a little of its luster. It literally separated everyone in Strawberry Canyon from watching the epic showdowns around the country.  The game itself revealed nothing not already known about the Bears. In fact, it bore somewhat of a resemblance to the week two win over Minnesota. Again, it was Marshawn Lynch and DeSean Jackson providing the highlight-reel touchdowns on offense.  Again, it was Daymeion Hughes with a big interception.  Again, it was Nate Longshore with a solid performance.  And again, there were a few minor issues (penalties and turnovers) that left the team with something to focus on in practice before this week's Pac-10 opener against Arizona State.
