Daily Cal: Cal Still Needs To Address Mistakes

BY Stephen Chen

Shortly after Saturday's game, the official Cal website was already selling T-shirts commemorating the win over Minnesota. Two huge logos, with a bolded "42-17" stamped below them. If I didn't know better, I would have thought the Bears had beaten USC and inched closer to a Rose Bowl berth.

I suspect the marketing department may end up being a little disappointed by the T-shirt sales. And during the first quarter it was anything but.  The Bears talked all last week about how big plays and dropped balls led to their demise in Tennessee.  Yet, both those things happened less than two minutes into the game.

There was a collective groan from the 55,035 fans at Memorial Stadium when Longshore opened the contest with a soft pass to tight end Eric Beegun, only to see the ball hit Beegun's chest and fall to the ground.
