Dec. 20, 2005

LAS VEGAS - The California Golden Bears continued their busy week of bowl activities Tuesday in Las Vegas as the countdown continued for the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl. The game will be played Thursday night and features Cal and the Brigham Young Cougars. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN. The Bears spent two hours on the practice fields during Tuesday afternoon and then headed off for a pep rally and dinner on the infamous Las Vegas strip. Also on tap Tuesday was a visit to Sunrise Children's Hospital in Las Vegas.  The week began with both Cal and Brigham Young attending a news conference, team competition and a reception at the ESPN Zone restaurant. That event was followed by a trip down the strip to see the Blue Man Group. Wednesday's agenda includes the Kickoff Luncheon, which will feature ESPN personality Lee Corso as the keynote speaker. Cal will also hold its lone workout of the week at Sam Boyd Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The team had been conducting drills at UNLV. The matchup between the Bears and the Cougars has produced the first sellout in the history of the Las Vegas Bowl, which dates back to 1992. The Bears are attending their third straight bowl game.
