Seattle Post Intelligencer Picks Cal at the top of the Pac 10 for 2006

Ted Miller’s rankings:

2006 Pac-10 Forecast

It's rare that no conference team boasts an established, marquee quarterback, but that will be the case in 2006. As a result, look for the defensive numbers to improve across the board.

1  California

Jeff Tedford should solve QB issues. Defense, Lynch, Forsett and some talented receivers should dominate.

2 USC

Defense should improve, but the NFL draft will raid the offense of star power.

3 UCLA

Defense must improve, but new QB Ben Olson will have TB Drew to lean on.

4 Oregon

Key players need to be replaced; TB Jonathan Stewart and his blockers will be strong.

5 Arizona

QB Tuitama and a tough defense could lead Wildcats to a bowl game.

6 Arizona State

Will QB Sam Keller bounce back? Will coach Dirk Koetter keep his job?

7 Washington State

Brink will be the Pac-10's most experienced QB; lots of questions on defense.

8 Oregon State

The O-line and TB Bernard will lead the way; will QB Moore and questionable defense follow?

9 Stanford

Defense will be terrible; Trent Edwards won't have much help on offense behind a weak line.

10 Washington

The depth chart is full of holes, and it's hard to find wins on their schedule.
