CalBears.com: Bears Conclude Preparations for Today's Bowl

Cal plays BYU before a sellout crowd
Dec. 22, 2005
LAS VEGAS - California wound up preparations on Wednesday for its meeting with Brigham Young in this evening's Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl at UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:06 p.m. PT on ESPN.
Coach Jeff Tedford will attempt to lead the 7-4 Golden Bears to their third straight season with at least eight wins. Cal and the Cougars (6-5) will play before a sellout crowd, the first in the history of the Las Vegas Bowl, which dates back to 1992. Bowl festivities on Wednesday included the Kickoff Luncheon, which featured ESPN personality Lee Corso as the keynote speaker, and a pep rally sponsored by the California Alumni Association. The week began with both Cal and Brigham Young attending a news conference and a team competition and a reception at the ESPN Zone restaurant. That event was followed by a trip down the strip to see the Blue Man Group. The Bears spent two hours on the practice fields Tuesday afternoon. Also on Tuesday, Cal made a visit to Sunrise Children's Hospital in Las Vegas.
The Bears, who played in the Holiday Bowl last year and in the Insight Bowl in 2003, are attending their third straight bowl game.
