So far, a down-and-up season for DeCoud

Big hit in UCLA Game was a high point for safety, mid-season injury was not.

After delivering Cal's biggest hit of the season Saturday, safety Thomas DeCoud sat up but quickly fell back to the turf.  He wobbled to his feet twice before being helped back to the ground by the medical staff.  "The Hit," which keyed a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown by DeSean Jackson, is so popular that it's been picked up by Youtube.com. The overlooked aftermath of the play, however, may actually be more defining as it acts as a microcosm of the junior's season.  "The season really has panned out that way," DeCoud said. "There have been a lot of ups and downs."
