San Francisco Chronicle: Bears try to calm down, not psyche up
Coach Jeff Tedford usually shares a theme or a motivational tool at Cal's weekly lunch conferences, but he had nothing Tuesday. "In this type of game, you have to go the other way," he said. "The players don't need motivation. They know what's at stake." The much-anticipated game, which is at 5 p.m. Saturday at USC, is almost here, and the motivation comes in the possibility of the school's first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1959. "We don't need any pep talks or prolific speeches," rover Brandon Hampton said. "It's SC in LA for the Rose Bowl. Let's go." Most of the players like the concrete nature of the ramifications involved with this week's game.
