Last night, after the Calhoun's event, we moved on to "the strip," the bar area nearest campus. The hot spot was a place called "the bar," which opened the night before. It was out of control, and I've never seen people drink like the Vol fans. There were numerous co-eds in various stages of undress dancing on the bar, and two blondes took their argument to the street, rolling on the ground and pulling hair until the police took them away. Quote of the night (about one of the fighters): "I know that girl. She's my roommate's friend's cousin and she's a coke addict." We also witnessed an argument between two Cal alums (boyfriend and girlfriend). The DJ at the bar kept playing the Rockytop song, during which all of the Vol fans in the bar would sing along. The male Cal alum started singing along, and the girl became enraged, saying it was disloyal, and asking how he could do such a thing, saying "I'm a 4th generation Cal fan. You don't do that, even jokingly." She left, returning to the Marriott.
There were quite a few "Cal sucks" yelled at us, but the fans overall are very nice. We talked to several Vol fans who admitted that they were very worried about the game today.
