Tucson Citizen: Bears Couldn't Tackle

“Various media outlets reported that Tennessee was able to figure out Cal's defensive signals, which helped the Vols score 21 points in the third quarter. Better explanation: The Bears simply couldn't tackle.   Cal coach Jeff Tedford said he was aware of the talk of stolen signals and discussed it with his staff, which uses two coaches on the sideline as decoys when giving the signals to the players. How much does this spy-vs.-spy stuff go on in college football? "I think it does happen," Tedford said. "Maybe not as much as in baseball, but it does happen."”
