KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - From the left coast point of view, today's Cal-Tennessee pyro-spectacular is all about, well, the Left Coast team. Only rarely has a well-regarded Cal team opened the season on the road against a well-regarded program in such an intense environment. Cal has been informed, by an unscientific polling of experts and an even less scientific polling of its fans, that a BCS bowl game is a realistic goal. Three-quarters of last year's starters are back. Running back Marshawn Lynch has been authorized to strike the Heisman pose with impunity. Coach Jeff Tedford isn't sure what he's got at quarterback, but the good news is, whatever he's got won't have to play against Cal's defense. The math is pretty simple. This would be an opportune time for the Bears to put their best paw forward. It's only when you pull back and drink in the bigger picture that you see the overriding theme here. Tennessee's the team that needs to win this game.
