Contra Costa Times: Lynch faces tough defense

Cal running back will be going up against one of best against the run

The statement in Tennessee's football media guide is printed in bold. "UT's defenses never rebuild, they just reload." Knoxville has produced Mountain Dew, Kenny Chesney and some of the best rush defenses seen in the college football world. Well, Tennessee, meet Cal tailback Marshawn Lynch. If Lynch can put a dent in a perennially immovable object Saturday when the teams meet at Neyland Stadium, he could vault himself to the top of the Heisman race.
It won't be easy. Last season the Volunteers allowed 82.5 rushing yards per game, the second-best mark in Division I-A football.
