Binswanger and Fraley Quit Team; QB Still Up in Air

From the Chronicle:
Cal coach Jeff Tedford says he won't make a decision on his starting quarterback until the week of the first game, Sept. 3 against Sacramento State at Memorial Stadium.
The Bears need to replace Aaron Rodgers who left Cal after his junior year for the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFL Draft.
"If we had to play today it would be Nathan Longshore," Tedford said. "He's the incumbent."
Longshore is a redshirt freshman who had the benefit of being with the team last year, including all home and away games, and has a head start on Tedford's offense.
He will be challenged in training camp by junior Joe Ayoob, a transfer from City College of San Francisco.
Bye to these Bears: Anthony Binswanger, who handled kickoffs for the Bears last year when the kicking game went to a three-man rotation, has left school.
Tedford said Binswanger told him he was going to transfer to CCSF, where he would have an opportunity to kick field goals as well.
Going into camp, punter David Lonie will handle the kickoffs and Tom Schneider will continue kicking field goals.
Offensive lineman Paul Fraley has left Cal for what Tedford termed "personal reasons."
The Bears report to camp Sunday and begin practice Monday.
