Latest from the No Shame Department in college football: Cal, which sullied this year's schedule with Eastern Washington, plays UC Davis next year. I'm not making this up. Then again, as a Cal grad driven to bitter skepticism over the years, it's hard to suppress unbridled excitement over this year's team. They were so good against Maryland, I almost forgot about their unsightly home uniforms (watch some old films, people, to see how the Bears are supposed to look). Best thing about last Saturday: the Cal receivers caught the ball, time after time, often under great duress. Very refreshing in this Age of the Drop.
