If it seems like a time to jump off that California bandwagon and bury the Bears, let's hold off a minute. It was only one game, however dreadful that loss at Tennessee was, and there's plenty of season left to be played. On the other hand ... holy Cal! The only way to look worse than the Bears was to be ESPN's Lee Corso, who predicted Saturday morning that Cal would play in the national title game. And now the Bears have to bounce back against Minnesota, in a game that at least will be in Berkeley. But where does Cal start in correcting all that went wrong in Knoxville?
The quarterback position is up for grabs between Nate Longshore and Joe Ayoob, and who likes that choice? Cal coach Jeff Tedford said senior Steve Levy, suspended for the opener because of a summer bar altercation, is behind those two, but what Old Blue has forgotten that Levy beat Stanford last season and was the quarterback in a bowl win?
