You could almost sense the message the Gophers coach intended to deliver this week as he sat in his office Saturday afternoon a few hours before Minnesota's next opponent, California, opened its season at Tennessee. "Everywhere you look, people have been saying, 'Watch out for Cal,' " Mason said. "[The Bears were] a lot of people's top-10 preseason pick. A lot of people picked them to win the Pac-10. Some people say they're the team to beat in the Pac-10, not Southern Cal. Some people picked them to win the national championship."
