SF Chronicle: Cal-UCLA added to ABC schedule

Cal announced Monday that its Oct. 20 game against UCLA will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will air on ABC.  It will be the team's 11th televised game this season, matching the school record. The Bears could break that mark when ABC chooses a Nov. 17 game - either Cal at Washington or Oregon State at Washington State. The Bears, who had a bye last weekend, will host Oregon State at 4 p.m. Saturday, a game that will be televised by Versus.

Note from blogger: I had no idea what “Versus” is, what channel it’s on, or what cable companies carry it.  However, their website allows you to enter your zip code and it will tell you everything you need to know.  Go here to find your local information.

How can the UCLA game be the 11th televised game of the season, when it will be the 7th game Cal has played?

Versus has jumped into college football this year w/ both feet. They do a decent job, though they blacked out for about 15 minutes of the Arizona game. For those of us on the East Coast, a Versus broadcast is far better than an ABC regional broadcast (UCLA, Oregon), because Versus is national. Versus has the Big Game this year.
