SF Examiner: Golden Bears ready to play a game

Rob Calogne

It was the loudest chorus of cheers from the Cal football players to end a practice that we've seen to date.  Their chants in unison during their cool down leading up to those cheers were more raucous.  This team is ready for a football game.  As soon as Jeff Tedford came over to the media following practice, one reporter made the statement that the team seemed ready.  Tedford replied, "Yeah, they're ready.  Finally, the season's here."  No truer words were said as the Golden Bears have just a walk through on Friday before they'll face the Maryland Terp's for their shot at redemption.

As far as the game goes, the chess match between Coach Tedford and Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen began at the start of training camp as the two have prepared their teams for the start of the season, with this game a clear focus.
