San Bernardino Sun: Carroll Should Be Concerned

“If I'm Pete Carroll I'm worried about his Trojans' Saturday's game at Cal. All the TV talking heads seem to have USC and Texas in the Rose Bowl already, and that kind of talk can rot out a team's work ethic. Cal, which has shown no fear of the Trojans in recent seasons, will have something to say about this.

A reminder: USC trailed by seven points or more in three of its five road games: at Oregon, at Arizona State, at Notre Dame.

USC linebacker Rey Maualuga, who allegedly punched out a fellow student, brings a whole new meaning to the expression "smash-mouth football."

Maualuga's first-half "suspension" vs. Stanford doesn't seem like much punishment for the level of indiscretion involved. Hate to think it was about the Trojans being thin at linebacker with Oscar Lua hurt on the opening kickoff.”
