SF Chronicle Podcast: Cal Football: Third-ranked Cal players bask in historic season

Cal moved up to Number 3 in the latest national college football rankings, and the players are well aware of the historical significance, beat writer Rusty Simmons reports in his weekly podcast.  The Golden Bears haven't been ranked that high since 1952, and Rusty reports on how the players are reacting to the potentially special season.  He also provides a look at the Bears sidelines during last weekend's thriller in Oregon and how Cal's tech-savvy players learned about other upsets around college football.  Rusty and Sporting Green Editor Glenn Schwarz also break down how the bye week comes at a good time because several key Bears, including QB Nate Longshore, have injuries to mend.
