University of California Berkeley police are interviewing an individual allegedly connected to a group of protesters squatting in trees next to the school's football stadium about this morning's arson of a university police vehicle, according to a university spokeswoman. The fire was first reported at 5:52 a.m. in Barrow Lane, outside Sproul Hall, said spokeswoman Janet Gilmore. Berkeley city firefighters responded to the call and extinguished the flames. The fire started in a "clearly marked'' university police van, Gilmore said. The extent of damage to the vehicle is unknown at the time, according to Gilmore. There were no injuries reported, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing, Gilmore said.
