RealFootball365: California at Oregon Preview

By Kyle Dudley

Saturday at 3:30 PM Eastern Time, the No. 23 California Golden Bears (7-2, 3-2 Pac-10) will travel to the No. 15 Oregon Ducks (7-1, 4-1 Pac-10). Eugene Oregon and Autzen Stadium will be alive with this key Pac-10 match up. Lauded sophomore quarterback, Dennis Dixon, will make the first start of his career for the Ducks. The start comes after senior starter, Kellen Clemens, suffered a break just above his ankle in the Ducks’ 28-21 win at Arizona October 22nd . In the little bit he has played this year, Dixon has thrown for 130 yards on 15-of-20 passing. Oregon nearly blew a 21-0 lead in the game before a fumble recovery for touchdown by Brent Haberly started the Ducks on a roll that ended up in the 7 point win. Oregon has had two weeks off to make any necessary adjustments to the defense. The Golden Bears also come into the match up off of a bye week. California had lost two straight before a 42-38 win against Washington State two weeks ago. The Golden Bears were down 10 in the fourth quarter before a 57-yard touchdown pass to LaRayelle Cunningham ignited a Cal comeback. In the win, running back Marshawn Lynch rushed for a career high 160 yards on just 25 carries and Justin Forsett had 111 yards to complete the Cal two headed attack. The Oregon Ducks had beaten California seven straight times until last years’ win by the Golden Bears 28-27 in Berkley. The Ducks blew a lead of 13 in that loss. Keep an eye on the Oregon air attack versus the Cal rushing attack
