Cal’s opponent on Saturday, Eastern Washington, is 1-0, after beating NCAA Division II Western Oregon 35-14.  Eastern Washington is ranked #18 in the NCAA Division I-Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-AA) coaches' poll.  Here’s the link.  The Richmond Spiders are number one.

Random facts from Wikipedia about Eastern Washington:

The school has 13,895 students and is located in Cheney, Washington.  Now called the Eagles, their mascot name was the Savages, in tribute to native Americans, until 1973.  Their stadium has 12,000 seats.  The EWU motto is “Start something big.”  Their team is currently on probation for “major violations” committed under former head coach Paull Wulff, now coach at WSU.
