Rob Calogne
To the victors goes the spoils. I think that's how the saying goes. Cal defeated Maryland in front of a national audience, the victory was hyped by ESPN (because they carried the game), and now Cal and a few of their players are reaping the benefits. The first, and most important benefit is the team aspect. Both the USA Today Coaches' Poll and the AP Top 25 Poll, ranked the Golden Bears No. 10. It's the first time that Cal has been ranked this high in the regular season poll since October of 2007--right before they lost to UCLA.
For the first time in his college career, Kevin Riley was named Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week. Riley completed 17 of 26 passes for 298 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes. The Heisman chase continues for Jahvid Best--unfortunately, the good news comes at the expense of an injury to Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. Best moved up to third on the Heismanpundit.com Heisman Poll, but he's still 25 points behind the leader, Tim Tebow of Florida.
