CALIFORNIA (2-1, 0-0)

A popular preseason pick to unseat USC, the Golden Bears stumbled out of the gate horribly, falling behind Tennessee 35-0. To their credit, they have stabilized since. Marshawn Lynch hasn’t surged into the Heisman race, but he’s been an asset despite ankle trouble. Quarterback Nate Longshore has earned the right to lead the team after a tough camp and opener.

Schedule: They get Oregon and Arizona State at home, but have to travel to USC.

Prognosis: If the team that played Tennessee doesn’t reappear, the Golden Bears may be the best bet for the Holiday Bowl.
