Cal finds its QB
The best development in Cal's 42-17 victory over Minnesota last week was that its quarterback debate appears to be over. Sophomore Nate Longshore completed 22 of 31 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns, also doing something he failed to do in two previous career starts - finish the game. "I thought he was excellent," coach Jeff Tedford said of the Pac-10 offensive player of the week. "He ran the offense very well and was very sharp throwing the football." Longshore was injured in the 2005 opener, missing the rest of the season, and then he was pulled in the 2006 opener as the Bears were getting smothered by Tennessee. Joe Ayoob has had plenty of chances to claim the job as his own, but now it might be Longshore's for a long time to come. For sure, he has the endorsement of sophomore receiver DeSean Jackson, who has caught four of Longshore's five career touchdown passes. "Nate's like a big ol' clown in the huddle," Jackson told the Oakland Tribune. "He just never seems like anything is that important. He's just out there being himself. It's a good thing to have a quarterback who's not always so serious. But he's a tough dude, too, and a great leader."

Longshore played well, but remember that Ayoob also played well in his first start last year (game 2) going 17 for 27, with 271 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT.
yeah that's very true. hey i have an issue with this guys report. rememeber nate threw a touchdown to jackson v sac st. last year. so i believe jackson has actually caught 5 of longshores 6 career touchdown passes.
you would think these guys would do better research, i imagine some day i will have their job...
