Tennessean: UT's Ainge to receive X-ray

By BRYAN MULLEN

KNOXVILLE – Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge is scheduled to have an X-ray on the pinky finger on his right (throwing) hand as early as today.  Ainge jammed the finger during Monday’s practice. The senior performed throwing drills early Tuesday but did not throw any passes during the first 40 minutes of practice, the time allotted for the media to view workouts. During a media teleconference on Wednesday morning, Fulmer did not specify when the X-ray would take place.  “You just rest it a little bit. It’s sore and everything,” Fulmer said. “We’re going to get an X-ray and make sure there’s nothing else there. But he threw the ball yesterday and the day before. Finished practice. We don’t anticipate a problem, but we want to be prepared if there is.”

Winning will help, with or without Ainge. They'll have plenty of excuses (no receivers, etc). And they won't help our strength of schedule if they lose to us and then fall apart, especially with Florida coming early.

There will always be doubters. But a win, especially in this game, will be WAY better than a loss.
