Cal football coach Jeff Tedford is the highest-paid employee on the University of California's payroll. Tedford earned $225,000 of base pay and $2.8 million in total compensation in 2007. His package includes a $1.5 million "talent fee" and a $1 million signing bonus. He can also earn additional incentives if Cal wins the national championship, for post season play and if he wins certain coaching achievement awards, among other things. Link.
