Kansas City Star: Bear' of a game in Pac-10 that doesn't involve Trojans

What’s this? An intriguing Pacific-10 matchup that doesn’t include Southern Cal? The top-ranked Trojans should easily prevail against Arizona, their only home game during a five-week span. Meanwhile, California visits UCLA in a meeting of unbeaten teams. The Golden Bears are 5-0 and ranked 10th, and they’ve played an ideally easy schedule for a young team. The opponents have a combined 5-19 mark. “We’re still a work in progress, no doubt about it,” Cal coach Jeff Tedford said. The Bruins are ranked No. 20, but if they find a way to win, they stand an excellent chance of going 9-0. Besides perfect records, what’s the common thread to these opponents: Neither is capable of beating Southern Cal.
