PUTTING HIS FOOT DOWN: California coach Jeff Tedford was quick to voice his displeasure over freshman receiver DeSean Jackson's celebration of a touchdown against New Mexico State. The Golden Bears, playing in Las Cruces, were on national television and Jackson was admittedly pumped after the 41-yard TD reception in the first quarter. But the revelry, with teammate Robert Jordan, cost Cal a 15-yard penalty. As a result, David Lonie had to kick off from California's 20-yard line -- and New Mexico State's Chris Williams fielded the ball and ran it back 94 yards for an Aggies touchdown. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown against Cal since 1995. "I talked to the whole team about it yesterday," Tedford said Tuesday. "Not only him, but the whole team. You can never put your team in the position to kickoff from the 20-yard line." Still, Cal went on to win Friday night, 41-13. Next up for the No. 12 Golden Bears (4-0, 1-0) is Arizona (1-2, 0-0) at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.
