Each week during the season, readers can select their pick for USA TODAY's Player of the Week. Choices will be made available on Sunday night. The fan vote will comprise one-third of the award with one vote each also going to college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett columnist Mike Lopresti.

THIS WEEK'S NOMINEES

Jahvid Best, RB, California: In just 14 carries, the running back totaled 200 yards on the ground and scored three times on runs of 80, 5 and 86 yards as the Golden Bears posted a 66-3 victory against Washington State.

Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State: The sophomore had nine catches for 236 yards and touchdowns of 39, 29 and 74 yards. He later added a 71-yard punt return for a score to help the Cowboys beat Houston 56-37.

Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut: Connecticut's running back rumbled for 214 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime to lift the Huskies past Temple 12-9.

David Johnson, QB, Tulsa: The Golden Hurricane routed North Texas 56-26 with their quarterback completing 25 of 33 passes for 418 yards and six touchdowns.

Michael Hamlin, DB, Clemson: The Clemson safety had three interceptions and recorded a team-high 10 tackles as the Tigers dropped The Citadel 45-17.

Todd Reesing, QB, Kansas: Kansas' quarterback connected on 32-of-38 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns in the Jayhawks' 29-0 shutout of Louisiana Tech.
