SF Chronicle: Bears eager to get back to work after bye

A funny thing happened while the Cal players were away from football and healing during last weekend's bye: They started to miss the bumps and bruises.  "It would have been easy for us to come back after having a weekend off and go through the motions, but Sunday was probably our fastest practice since fall camp," sophomore quarterback Nate Longshore said. "Guys looked fresh and looked hungry to play again."  In fact, the first practice of the week was so intense, coaches had to tell the players to cool it.  "They started telling us to calm down, because it's only Sunday," sophomore linebacker Worrell Williams said. "We all just came out there fresh, and we started flying around."
