UCLA finds out Saturday if it's a Pacific-10 Conference contender or pretender. In Saturday's 21-17 victory against Washington, the Bruins trailed 17-7 and needed two fourth-quarter touchdowns to avoid an upset at the Rose Bowl. No. 20 UCLA steps up in competition this week with a home game against No. 10 California. "We did not have one of our best games against Washington, but were able to pull it out," UCLA coach Karl Dorrell said. "This week, given the ramifications of the conference and them being undefeated, I believe our focus will be better." Quarterback Drew Olson led the comeback, which included a 73-yard scoring drive that culminated with Maurice Drew's 1-yard touchdown run with 1:08 left. The Golden Bears have relied on their running game and stingy defense to start 5-0 for the first time since 1996. Running backs Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett have helped the Bears average 259.4 yards rushing, seventh in the nation. The defense has not allowed a touchdown in 10 quarters. Top-ranked USC, Cal and UCLA are the remaining unbeaten teams in the Pac-10.
