University of Tennessee reserve quarterback Jim Bob Cooter’s DUI preliminary hearing has been postponed until August 17th. Cooter was arrested and charged with driving under the influence June 3 around at around 3:25 a.m., after UT police officer Joey A. Knight spotted Cooter’s black SUV running a red light and driving on the wrong side of the road on 16th street. Knight’s report said Cooter, who turned 22 on July 3, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The senior from Fayetteville was suspended from the team indefinitely by coach Phillip Fulmer and will not be eligible for Tennessee’s season-opener against California. Cooter, who earned his bachelor’s degree this spring and will enroll as a graduate student this fall, is the third player suspended or dismissed since May. Senior linebacker Marvin Mitchell was suspended for a disorderly conduct arrest. Freshman defensive tackle Raymond Henderson was dismissed from the team for "an inappropriate comment to a woman and her adolescent daughter." Both incidents occurred in May.
