SportingNews: Schools Keep Head Coaches, Still Make Big Changes

Here is the link.

Cal-related quote: Frank Cignetti, Cal offensive coordinator. For Jeff Tedford to trust Cignetti enough to hand him calling duties speaks volumes. Cignetti is a sharp mind who has trained in the NFL. And he has subtle schemes dipped in sophistication.

Here's hoping Gregory gets the talent (or his mojo) that he had in 2004. The cliche that "Offense wins games, defense wins championships" will be the case in the Pac10 this year. Good thing Stanford lost their DC, but the new Washington DC could be the wildcard in the Pac10.

So...is this the guy that ran 'run up the middle' play even though it clearly wasn't working?

Cal should never have let Dunbar leave.

Tedford was willing to risk everything when he felt like he had nothing to lose.

Now he seems to think something has changed but it has not.

Cal cannot compete head up with USC or UCLA talent wise (Oregon, Oregon State, and Arizona State outclassed Cal last year too).

The only way for Cal to win is not turn the ball over and take big risks.

Cignetti better be a true gambler or Tedford will become another Ben Braun.

Let the flames begin!
