Spring football is helping to heat up quarterback competition at several notable programs around the country. Here's a quick look at some of the top battles during this round of practices.
California
Joseph Ayoob (6-5, 215, jr.) vs. Nate Longshore (6-5, 230, redshirt fr.): Longshore's physical tools intrigue coach Jeff Tedford's staff. But he is raw and doesn't have the athleticism of Ayoob, a San Francisco City College product who has been compared to Michael Vick because of his running and deep-throwing ability.
Who wins out: Ayoob. Too much physical talent to keep him out of the lineup.
