SF Examiner: Follett receives Pac-10 player of the week honors

For the second straight week, a Cal defender has earned Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week award.  You may recall that Mike Mohamed was named last week.  This week, it was defensive captain and team leader Zack Follett.  Against Oregon, Follett tallied 11 tackles, eight solo, three for loss, and a sack.  He also broke up a pass and led the Bears to keeping Oregon off-balance on offense. For the year, Cal has had one offensive player (Jahvid Best), three defensive players (Follett, Mohamed and Cameron Jordan), and two special teams players (Syd'Quan Thompson and Bryan Anger) get Pac-10 awards.

Television coverage

The Bears will be playing the next three games on ABC television.  Without much surprise, next week's game against USC will be on ABC with announcers Sean McDounough and Chris Spielman.  The following two games will be televised regionally on ABC.  Both the November 15th and the 22nd when the Bears will face Oregon State and Stanford, will start at 12:30pm PST.  The announcers for those games have not been announced.  The USC game is at 5pm PST this Saturday evening.  The final game against Washington will either be shown on FSN at noon or ESPN at 5pm PST.  With how the Huskies have played this season, it's a good bet that the Bears will be on FSN.

Cal and the Pac-10 standings

The Bears will be fighting to knock USC out of contention for the Pac-10 championship this weekend.  Even if the Bears beat USC, they could still be tied for first in the Pac-10 with Oregon State.  That would set up another Pac-10 game of the week next weekend in Corvallis, Oregon.
