4. Cal
The quarterback situation in Berkeley officially became delicious when backup Kevin Riley rallied the Bears from behind in the Armed Forces Bowl, running for a score and going 16-of-19 for 269 yards and three touchdowns through the air. What he lacks in experience, the sophomore makes up for with mobility and a penchant for making something out of nothing, which can't be said about the lumbering Nate Longshore. Longshore has been inconsistent as a two-year starter, struggling with injuries and bad reads, while throwing 16 picks to just 11 touchdowns in eight Cal losses. His grip on the starting job has begun to slip.
The Pre-Spring Best Guess Starter Will Be ... Kevin Riley

If Tedford pick Longshore of Riley he is nothing more than another Ben Braun.
The rest of the PAC-10 has improve while Tedford does not seem to 'get it'.
My skepticism comes from being a long time Raiders, A's, and Cal fan.
Let the flames begin!
Let's remember that the reason Tedford recruits so well is that he does connect with these teenagers. There certainly is a pattern (ayoob, longshore) that shows Tedford has a father's loyalty to his players, its a "flaw" as a coach, but a great trait as a person, which is why this is such a lighting rod for conflict between cal fans.
But having Cignetti takes this decision out of his hands (at least 'officially').
Riley WILL be the starting QB.
According to Tedford, Longshore is still much, much better than Riley. I think we all need to listen to the coach, he knows what he is doing! All of you idiots who think you know more than Tedford are just BANDWAGON fans! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!
If coach Tedford starts Longshore, keep your mouths shut and accept his decision! Remember how we used to be?
Who are you to tell people to keep their mouths shut? If someone doesn't agree with you they are deemed a "Bandwagon" fan? Fuck you!
